The buttons of corozo

The corozo is, perhaps, the material more used for the buttons in her custom tailoring. And of vegetable origin, is drawn of the seeds of a palm (Phitelephia Macrocarpa) that it is born in America Latin in the Atlantic equatorial band particularly in the Equador. Great as an egg, the seed is made to desiccate for around 45/50 days, cut to washers, turned for reaching the desired form. The corozo is also called vegetable ivory by the color of the seed.

Buttons of Horn of Buck

The buttons of horn

The horn more used, whose scientific name is BUBALUS BUBALIS, is drawn by the horns of cow and buffalo. It originates above all from India even if the more appreciated is the African horn drawn by horns of gnu or cow. The African horn is, generally, of white and black color and rarely of grey color. The Indian horn is actually of various colors from the blond to reach the brown or black color. The horn of cow distinguishes from that of buffalo in how much the washer introduces him with a stains color, while that of buffalo has striations or central veins. The workmanship of the horn: the initial part of the point is cut (cm. 5/7) used for the production of frogs, the central part is cut in such horizontal sense by to form of the rings of different widths and with thickness of around 6 mms used for the turning of buttons of various forms and sizes. The part of the horn, more neighbor to the head of the animal, is cut, instead, in vertical sense (in the sense of the length) and open with a source of heat, is pressed then for getting a plate from which to draw washers or plaquettes for the production of buttons or buckles. The washers of plate are more fragile and less you appreciate of those of point, but they are more expensive because they require great workmanship. Besides the horn is also worked the fingernail that however having little veins is less appreciated and is used, mainly, for the production of objects of custom jewelry. I discard of workmanship is shattered and pulverized for getting biological fertilizer.

The pearl-buttons

The mother of pearl is the inside, hard and iridescent part of the shell of some sea bivalve molluscs or gastropods (to univalved shell). And composed by thin foils of carbonate of kick that alternate him in form of calcite and aragonite. The particular structure to thin plates of the aragonite determines the typical iridescence of the mother of pearl. The shells more used for the manufacture of the buttons are those of the Trocus niloticus (mainly for knitwear), Pinctata margaritifera, Upsets marmoratus and Haliotis. The built buttons with the Haliotises (you also call ears of sea) are those more fluorescent because of the iridescences that go from the blue to the green and the purplish one. Shells give diskettes of different measures you/they are drawn for being turned into buttons. I discard of workmanship is pulverized for being used, in cosmetic, for powders and eyeshadows.

Buttons of Galalite

The galalite is a thermosetting plastic material gotten for synthesis by the caseina, a by-product from the milk and the fomaldeide.
